Federal Appeals Court refuses to stop Blackberry lawsuit.

In a decision with far reaching implications on the sale of hand held devices and email services, the US Court of Appeals in Washington, DC refused a request by Research in Motion, or RIM, the company that manufacturers and markets under the Blackberry name, to freeze a patent infringement suit that threatens the heart of their US business.

This is only the most recent of a series of patent infringement suits brought by firms that specialize in researching and then enforcing patent infringement violations. This is a growing area of the law that bears examination.
