Analysis of Judge Alito

Two good articles, one from the "voice of the left" the NY Times discussing Judge Samuel Alito's judicial track record and speculating on where he might fit on the spectrum of existing members of the Supreme Court.

The second article is on this weekend's Wall Street Journal online in which the "voice of the right" weighs in with an analysis by Eugene Volokh, professor of law at the UCLA Law school and founder of the Volokh conspiracy web blog. He feels Judge Alito will rule and make decisions to the center as opposed to the hard right side of the court, but will clearly be a more reliable conservative then Justice O'Connor was perceived to be in her later years on the court.

Our analysis is that it will be almost impossible to stop his nomination given his background and experience, but that his libertarian leanings give hope to centrists that he might actually turn out to be much like Justice O'Connor once confirmed. Interesting reading so check it out.
