Pivotal week in Vioxx Trial.

This will be a pivotal week in the Vioxx trial in Texas as Attorney Mark Lanier continues his examination of his lead expert witness, Dr. David Egilman. The is no doubt Merck took some shots last week,  but that they still have what they consider their trump card in the causation arguments. It's very clear that will be the foundation of their defense in this matter and if Lanier has a strong week and his expert holds up reasonably well, the foundation he laid last week in a somewhat risky move of laying out his case thematically as opposed to sequentially will be vindicated. It was a somewhat risky gambit to make but one where he obviously felt he needed to come out strong and establish early in the juries mind that Merck knew they had a problem to hide, and hide it they did.

Fascinating stuff. Would love to hear from anyone who has been down at the trial.
