Crucial Vioxx Trial begins in NJ

Attorney Mark Lanier takes his show on the road and will open a crucial trial in Judge Carol Higbee's NJ state courtroom today. This trial is going to be a major test of the liability Merck could face on the "long duration" cases,  in which plaintiffs clearly took Vioxx for more then 18 months and suffered a cardiac event of some type as a result.

The Wall Street Journal has had the best daily coverage of these trials and profiles Attorney Lanier in this piece last week. It's a solid review of the tactics both sides anticipate using, the obstacles of moving from Texas to NJ to try the case, as well as other insights into how this key battle might unfold.

We will be following it on The Legal Broadcast Network and bringing in several of our key expert attorney's from around the country to comment on how the case is proceeding.
