Mr. Jim Orr, I was prescribed this type of duragesic patch and thought I was going to die from it. I have had 5 back surgeries
from two different on the job injuries. I was and still am in a lot of pain so a Dr. gave me these Pain "Patches" to wear that are
suppose to be good for 3 days. I went to watch my daughter at Naval Graduation a few years ago and was wearing one of
them. I walked slowly for one block and entered a Quonset Hut type structure where all the graduating class were doing their
marching. I walked halfway down the length of the building and started getting sick as hell to my stomach and then a headache
which I never had compared to this one. I ended up crawling out of the building from in front of the bleachers out the side door
and ended up laying back in the shade against the support on the side of the building. The paramedics came to my aid but I had ripped the duragesic patch off after I laid back and right before they got there. I thought I was going to die before I got outside. I had never
felt so sick in my life. After I took the patch off and got into the air outside I started feeling better. The paramedics arrived and took my vitals and asked me if I wanted to go to the hospital because I was still flushed and feeling strange. I told them I would leave the patch off and see how I did. They made me sign papers that they had come to my aid and refused to go to the hospital but they stayed there
until I got up. I had never felt that bad before and never had a headache so intens. I luckily had a few vicodin with me to relieve some of the pain as we were over 200 miles from home. The next day when we got home I put the same patch back on. I put it on by love handle area as the Dr said it would not be as concentrated as if I put it up high on my body. I think it was about 30-45 minutes and I started getting that horrible intense migrane again. I started tingling all over and getting sick and I had to take the patch off again. I had to go on to Oxycontin because I could not handle the 25mg Fentanyl Duagesic Patch. I still have the entire prescription with a few unopened patches and the original one I never could use completely. I thought I was going to be a dead man before I got out of that building that day. I have always felt lucky that I was smart enough to rip that thing off of me. The Navy would still have a record to verify what happened that day. You can contact me through my email if you would like to find out about the patches I have. SeymoureJohn@Netscape.Net I saw the award you got the people in Chicago and I guess I was lucky to be alive. A lot of people thought I was just telling a story. NOT I am 51 and it was bad!
