Eliot Spitzer, the legal implications

Later today the Legal Broadcast Network will be rolling out an interview with one of the nation's premier criminal defense attorney's, Billy Murphy of the Murphy Law Firm in Baltimore, MD.

Much has been made of the former New York Attorney General's fall from grace and the moral failings of his action, but the legal world is a buzz with speculation over whether or not he could be facing federal charges under the Mann Act or Patriot Act laws tied to structuring cash transactions. spitzer.jpg  It is doubtful that the prosecutor Spitzer would have shown much mercy to someone in his situation, and in the ultimate of ironies, his defenders are arguing for prosecutorial discretion. ( Read Alan Dershowitz's line of thinking in today's WSJ).

We will be sending out today's podcast shortly, but there is no doubt from the initial facts of the case that a U.S. Attorney Could bring charges, but it will be intriguing to see if the do in fact go down that path.
