Brown's Donte Stallworth Hits Pedestrian While Intoxicated.
Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 08:38AM Cleveland Brown wide receiver Donte Stallworth struck and killed a pedestrian in his Bentley last weekend.
Scott Drake talks with former prosecutor and Deputy District Attorney Mike Kraut (Kraut Law Group) in Los Angeles.
Charges have not been filed. If convicted in Florida, Stallworth could be facing 3 years or more in prison.
According to published and broadcast reports, Stallworth was intoxicated when the accident happened.
WSVN-TV in South Florida reported Thursday that anonymous sources with knowledge of the investigation said Stallworth's blood-alcohol level was between 0.08 and 0.16. The legal limit is 0.08. The Miami Herald also cited an anonymous source as saying Stallworth's blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit.
The Miami Beach Police Department refused to confirm the reports. A spokesman for the Miami-Dade County prosecutor would say only that the investigation is focusing on whether alcohol was a factor in the death of Mario Reyes, 59.
Reyes was struck and killed by a car driven by Stallworth about 7 a.m. Saturday.
