The Schwarzenegger/Shriver divorce will likely throw off a big number for sure. The legal complexities involved in this case are fascinating. Los Angeles family law specialist Robert Brandt (Feinberg Mindel Brandt & Klein) says the most interesting aspect may be how Schwarzenegger was able to keep this quiet so long given the woman and boy were undoubtedly in the house periodically. Brandt also hinted it is very likely there was some agreement between the actor and the child’s mother to keep the event quiet.
Brandt says the existence of a prenuptual agreement is likely and the fact that the marriage is 25 years old doesn't mean there is a "sunset clause" ar some way the agreement would be invalidated.
Brandt says mediation is a likely course of action here to keep the proceeding out of the media as much as possible.
Mr. Brandt is a frequent television news legal contributor. He belongs to the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations, the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists, and the United States District Courts. He is the current Chair Elect of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Family Law Section.
