Lawsuit Over Military Action In Libya-Brad Bannon

Ten US congressmen, Republican and Democrat, are suing Barack Obama arguing that he exceeded his powers in authorising the operation in Libya. They told reporters that they want to correct a power imbalance in Washington over who has the right to send Americans to war.

You may remeber that this isn't a new idea. In the late 1990s, a number of lawmakers filed suit against President Bill Clinton's Administration for the use of air strikes against Serbia in the former Yugoslavia. Clinton said he thought the War Powers Act wasn't constitutional and the court ruled in favor of the president, holding that the Congressional members lacked legal standing to bring the suit.

Democratic political consultant Brad Bannon writes "the president should state his case for the American people and bring a formal declaration of war against Libya."
