Supreme Court Rejects California Video Game Law-Declan McCullagh

The US Supreme Court in a 7-2 ruling struck down a California law restricting the sale of violent video games to minors

The US Supreme Court says video games are protected free speech in a 7-2 ruling this week.

The Court declared that video games use familiar literary devices to tell stories, just like books, plays and movies. The Court said  the California law's attempt to restrict their distribution is "unprecedented and mistaken."  The justices were unconvinced by existing research on whether violent video games cause viloent behavior in children.
